Law practice 1987-2001, recently forced out of retirement to lead the battle against a powerful corporation, the Dept of Energy, and the Dept. of Environment and Natural Resources to protect our primary forest (only 4% left) from a geothermal project.

Church: Have been with Christian Family Movement since 1983 and Cursillos en Christiandad since 1985. The big environment case I'm handling now has the bishop as the driving force. Was moderator/presiding officer of the 2nd Diocesan Synod's plenary meetings, including the assembly at which the resolutions were approved. Our women's NGO frequently networks with the Diocese.

NGOs: President since 1993 of Development Through Active Women Networking Foundation Inc. We give gender sensitivity trainings and trainings on women's issues. Our programs include reproductive health, women in leadership and governance (women in politics), gender responsive budgeting for local governments, community based monitoring system with gender built in. I'm also with a drug rehabilitation foundation and the Girl Scouts Provincial Council. Used to be Executive Director of a foundation that did community organizing and human development work in sugar farm communities. I've been with Ecclesia of Women in Asia since the first conference in 2001. I created and managed EWA's websites from 2001 til August, 2009.
A little about yourself, including the issues and causes closest to your heart
I look forward to becoming the wise-old-woman in the woods kind of person, a state blessed with wisdom, stillness, utter simplicity, and the capacity to help others with their problems. Though I like thinking of life as an adventure and I enjoy experiencing, learning, and doing as many things as I can, the ideal of simplicity says that like the wise-old-woman in the woods, there are many things I can do without. A husband of 30 years and 7 kids plus a mother who lived the last two years of her life with me give me a different kind of forest to live in. They do help to make me wiser. We all love the outdoors - trekking, walking, biking, dogs, animals that shouldn't be in cages (but husband and kids put them there, ex. a Burmese python), so my case to protect our forest is really a family cause. I'm Catholic but my God is not limited to what the Catholic Church says about God.

Hi! Andrea,
I have been trying to send the news report to all members of EWA through Ecclesiaofwomen yahoo group, but it does not seem to go. Why? How do I send messages to all.

Hi Andrea, I see you had a really successful assembly. You are clearly going from strength to strength. I hope to catch up via the various emails that come in and even more so from the EWA webpage.

Thanks Andrea! I'm still overwhelmed at this new responsibility as EWA coordinator. However with the help and support from you, Agnes, and the rest of EWA former CT and members, I am hoping to do the best I can. Thanks for everything.
